We are excited to invite you to the 9th annual Afrikan Black Coalition (ABC) Conference here at the University of California, Berkeley on March 9-11. We are anxious to join with you in solidarity as we join together in the process of “Accepting the torch: Reigniting the Flame.” Mark your calendars and prepare to travel to a conference full of fun, excitement, education, and networking.

As one of the only system-wide collectives for Black students, the Afrikan Black Coalition is a vital tool in promoting networking amongst peers, generating positive images of Black students and staff to their campus communities, inspiring innovation in a system that honors hard facts and calculation, and providing an environment where the Black cultural experience is valued.

This year’s ABC Conference will be educational and enlightening by drawing upon our histories of resilience and activism and connecting them to current issues faced by Black students in the University of California system and beyond.  With this in mind workshops and plenary session will be aimed at developing and encouraging practical ways for us to address the needs of our communities.

Our task is heavy and to accomplish this workshop themes will range from self mastery and development to community action . Workshops will be partnered with intriguing, genuine, and informative plenary sessions that delve deeper into subjects of empowerment. And entertainment will carry the same intentional and thought-provoking messages that are the thrust of the conference.

So mark your calendars for March 9-11 and prepare to travel to a conference full of fun, excitement, education, and networking as we explore our beautiful history of struggle, strength, and triumph.

                    In Love and Solidarity,
                    Salih Muhammad
                    Chair Black Student Union,
